A Glimpse Behind the Story

N.7 Studio introduced Italian artist Giotto Calendoli and his work The Last Diet to GreenWellness, a new lifestyle and wellness platform connected to the Harper's BAZAAR China ecosystem.

The idea was born from an exchange of ideas and imagination between Patty Wong, founder of N.7 Studio, and Simona Qian, editor of GreenWellness. Through their conversations about art, fashion, design and contemporary lifestyle, The Last Diet came to the table, quite literally.

It was a natural fit: a work that uses humour and an everyday object to talk about food, pleasure and the rituals of daily life, finding a new context through an editorial conversation.

As part of Energy Goods, GreenWellness's monthly editorial series, the editor selected The Last Diet as one of the top picks for its readers, giving the work a new editorial context and a distinctly local point of entry.

🥘 Enjoy the last meal. Enjoy every meal. It all starts with a napkin.

"How many times have you heard yourself say, 'I'll start my diet after this meal'?"

But perhaps dieting should not be a constant battle of willpower. Maybe it can instead be a way of learning to take better care of everyday life: paying attention to what we eat, savouring every bite, truly listening to our body's signals of hunger and fullness, and rediscovering a more conscious connection with ourselves.

And sometimes, all it takes to begin is a small ritual. Like a napkin.

Italian artist Giotto Calendoli brings “The Last Supper” to the table and turns it into a napkin. Embroidered at its centre, the phrase L'Ultima Dieta ("The Last Diet") is also the artist's little joke.

You come home after travelling and finally get to eat the home cooking you have missed so much. And so you make yourself a promise: "Tomorrow I'll start the diet."

Of course, there is a good chance that after wiping your mouth with this napkin, your brain has already forgotten the promise.

But at least the meal was enjoyed.

And perhaps that is exactly the point.

Eat well. Live well.

Simona Qian, Editor, GreenWellness

Sometimes, the simplest idea travels the furthest:

"I'll start the diet tomorrow."

For The Last Diet, the first conversation began with a napkin, a joke and a shared understanding of food, pleasure and everyday life.

But this is only the first step.

The next conversation will take place in Giotto Calendoli's garden, where GreenWellness editor Simona Qian will meet the artist in person for an interview and discover more of his work, ideas and stories.

November. A cup of tea, a slice of cake, and Giotto's colourful world all around us. Another way of discovering the person behind the work.

And what comes after that conversation?

Maybe a journey
Maybe some snow
Maybe the next meal :)

Life is full of imagination and a little bit of magic, if we choose to believe in it.

And if we remain open to a wider space, to more conversations, more ideas and more unexpected connections, something can begin from almost nothing and grow, step by step.

We love to travel, connect, create and inspire each other. To make beautiful things. To build collaborations.

It all starts with a single word. A thought. A conversation. A small idea shared.

And from there, who knows where it might lead?

Talk to us about your ideas, or even a thought that is still taking shape.

Feel free to reach out.
